Lesson Plan LP-04 — FFS: Evaluation Phase & Manoeuvres Training Phase

Type: Full Flight Simulator (instructional practice for TRI candidates)
Duration: 4.0 hours block (incl. brief/debrief) — adjust to device booking
Module link: 04, 05, 07, 09 · Doc 9995 Part I, 7.4–7.5 / 6.3.3 · SD29 v9.1 §8 / §10
MaxFli TRI Course

Objectives

  1. Run an Evaluation phase segment: observe/assess; gather objective evidence; identify individual training needs; instructor normally does not instruct or interrupt (Doc 9995 Part I, 7.4 paraphrased); safety interventions only.
  2. Transition into a Manoeuvres training phase with clear demonstration/practice loops; act as an active trainer on critical handling (Part I, 7.5 paraphrased) — not a line-oriented story.
  3. Debrief distinguishing baseline Evaluation evidence from taught manoeuvre items; include strengths, root causes, and tailored next focus; integrate CRM/TEM observations with technical performance (SD29 v9.1 §8 / §10).
  4. Demonstrate 6.3.3-style noting: behaviour→outcome, good performance, safety margins.

Competency focus (of the pilots under training — for observation practice)

Flight Path Manual · Flight Path Automation · Application of Procedures/Knowledge · Workload Management

TRI candidate focus: Professional Standards · Communication · Workload Management (session control)

Timing (example)

Mins Phase Content Instructor notes
0–30 Brief Name Evaluation → Manoeuvres training (+ optional Scenario-based); 7.3-style objectives; intervention policy per phase TRI candidate leads under MaxFli tutor watch
30–75 Evaluation phase Line-oriented normal ops + one moderate occurrence; observe/assess technical + NTS/CRM Tutor prevents coaching creep; external-party roles OK
75–90 Short interim Agree Manoeuvres training focus from Evaluation evidence Keep crisp; individual training needs
90–150 Manoeuvres training phase 2–3 critical handling items; active trainer; reposition as required Not line-oriented; demonstrations time-boxed
150–180 Scenario-based lite (optional) Reinvest one skill; instructor may intervene to develop Only if time/safety allow; contrast with Evaluation
180–240 Debrief + records Outcome, strengths, themes, tailored plan, notes quality (6.3.3 / SD29 facilitation) Tutor assesses TRI candidate

IOS / device notes

Success look-like

Clear behavioural difference between Evaluation phase (observe) and Manoeuvres training phase (active trainer); notes support a tailored statement with strengths/root causes and CRM/TEM tags; seat/control discipline sound.
